Rock Burger & Sides
With Crystal Palace

Thursday 28th September

Another first for The Ferry and one to delight all Prog/Art rock fans!

CRYSTAL PALACE hail from Berlin, Germany and on this first Glasgow visit should not be missed. Their hand penned songs  describe personal experiences or comment on  general events in the world. The band is also not afraid to make political statements on occasion and give an opinion to the odd state of things.Their sound is characterized by melodic passages and instrumentally worked-out themes with traces of "Pink Floyd", "Marillion" and "Porcupine Tree" to be found.

For any prog/art rock music fan with a sense for harmoniously balanced phrasing, the band’s work is a musical experience second to none. Well-known artists such as Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Kalle Wallner and Yogi Lang (RPWL) guested on the band’s album “The System of Events", which received rave reviews in various magazines upon release in 2013.

Rock Hard ... “The System Of Events", the best progressive-rock album of the year ..."
Rock It  ... “Amongst the many prog-records, that thankfully are thrown into the marketplace these days, “The System Of Events” stands out
Eclipsed Magazine (Germany)  … "finally Germany has a new entry in the sparsely occupied league of ambitious art rock."

The band teamed up with the label, Gentle Art Of Music in 2016 (home to „RPWL" – another huge selling German band, so that pretty much means a guarantee of quality) to release "Dawn of Eternity", a work which firmly establish the band as a bold new driving force in the art-rock-scene, to more rave reviews. Markus Reuter (Stick Men, The Crimson ProjeKCt, Steven Wilson) guested on that album, which eventually reached #17 on the international AOR selling charts with tributes from many, well respected, rock media outlets: … “Dawn of Eternity" is just delectable! Rocking Prog with method, vision and passion. … Crystal Palace, a name to reckon with among the bullying candidates seeking the top of the prog podium, and certainly a perfect choice for muscular and masculine heavy progressive rock."
Backgroundmagazine … With “Dawn Of Eternity" the band takes a step towards bands like Dream Theater, IQ and Galahad. The previous album saw strong powerful melodic progressive rock, but to be fair, this new release absolutely tops the previous release …"
Classic Rock Society … “A well-balanced piece of work … a splendid album." … “highly melodic art rock music that will appeal to fans of the moodier side of progressive rock. Porcupine Tree especially come to mind, but one thing must remain clear: Crystal Palace are not plagiarizing anyone as they have their own sound and style."
