Lightnin Willie and The Poorboys

Lightnin’ Willie and The Poorboys

Rock Burger & Sides Night

Tuesday 23rd October

For over 20 years now, Lightnin’ Willie and The Poorboys have toured the US and UK spreading the message of The Blues.
They apply a distinctive approach to their music based on the fact that Willie, himself, has a distinctive approach to his music. He is a song writer; singer and guitarist in that order and following that mantra the band provide an irresistible blend of tradition and spontaneous creativity, with a deliciously insidious emphasis on the groove. Expect a compelling, hard swinging brand of blues that, whenever they perform, packs the dance floor.
Over the years Willie has gone from the low down beer joints to become a staple on the international circuit at home in the USA and abroad, with some wild stops along the way, from London's Royal Albert Hall Igniter Series to Willie Nelson's infamous 4th of July Picnic, where he appeared alongside Paula Nelson, Willie, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell.

Touring the United States and Europe has given Willie the relaxed, confident and sometimes humorous quality of a seasoned performer. These attributes have won him stacks of enthusiastic praise from the press while landing his original tunes on numerous film and television soundtracks. Lightnin' Willie has the unique knack of bringing his audience into his 'living room' and making everyone comfortable while forgetting their problems for a couple of hours.  At a recent show with legendary blues man Robert Cray they played to a packed house receiving a well-deserved standing ovation.

2018 finds Willie and The Poorboys on tour both in the U.S.A and with an Autumn tour of Europe, supporting his latest album, No Black No White Just Blues, which was produced by Grammy award winning producer/guitarist Pete Anderson,

What the people that know say…………………

No Black No White Just Blues features ten clever and powerful self-penned compositions that explore the haunting expressions of human feelings that inhabit the blues alongside a fair share of wit. He writes songs in a concisely crisp manner. He sings with rich, full-bodied character, while playing guitar with sizable skill " - VIVASCENE

" The great grooves, understated guitar, vocals, and lyrics fit perfectly in the genre without seeming old and tired make for one of the best listens of 2017 "- VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE/DECEMBER 2017.

“In a world of guitar slingers, Los Angeles-based bluesman is a rare find. His guitar, a 1950 Gibson ES-5N has a rich, deep tone and Willie's tasteful style create a sound that's light years away from the howling Fender Stratocasters that populate so many modern blues recordings. His understated dexterity on guitar and cool, relaxed vocals form a unique style that's simultaneously laid back and steeped in tradition." - ELMORE MAGAZINE 2017.

"One of the best contemporary Blues songwriters & performers today" - PETE ANDERSON/GRAMMY MULTI AWARD WINNING PRODUCER.

"He isn't a simple minded dance band leader. He developed his deceptively simple, boundless appealing style over a lifetime of propinquitous musical experience..." - JONNY WHITESIDE.

"What he doesn't know about putting on a good show isn't worth knowing..."- MICHAEL MEES/BLUES IN BRITAIN.

Wishbone Ash

Wishbone Ash - XLIX

Rock Burger & Sides Night

Thursday 25th October

Discover for yourself why Wishbone Ash remain one of the most enduring and popular bands in British Rock. With millions of albums sold, their iconic twin-guitar sound inspired bands from Thin Lizzy to Iron Maiden and produced such classics tracks as The King Will Come, Throw Down The Sword & Blowin’ Free. Combining the old songs with the new, they’re just as fresh and in demand after an amazing one year short of 50 on the road!

with special guest Félix Rabin

Félix Rabin is a 23 year old singer-songwriter and guitarist.

Born in France and inspired by musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Pink Floyd.....his style embodies these influences and the best of contemporary Rock. After touring around France, a handful of appearances in the UK and playing several times at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in the country where he has lived since childhood, Félix is now taking on Europe.

Loving music as long as he can recall, the desire to play came suddenly and when Félix picked up his first guitar at 15.......the story began.

In 2016 he penned a few songs for promotional purposes and after a few months on the road, it became clear that people liked what they saw and wanted to hear more, so Félix released a selection on CD.

Félix is appearing as "special guest" on the Wishbone Ash XLIX UK Tour and will be playing at 28 of the 31 shows in October & November this year.  Given the amazing response he has received so far in this country, he says; "As a French guy, I really can feel that music is much more into the culture of English people - I mean you can feel that Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash and all the other great ones come from here! And a little detail but the not the last: music is played loud!"

Plans are in hand to release his debut album in 2019 and it's fair to say; there are exciting times ahead for this young Frenchman....

The Motown Brothers

The Motown Brothers

Friday 26th October

The Motown Brothers are one of a few funky but, sophisticated groups, with an African twist, currently performing in the UK. Just 3 guys with a distinct attitude and an average of 25 years performing experience amongst them - they exude class!

Each with their own individuality and creativity they have developed THE MOTOWN SHOW which delivers “just what it says on the can”, reviving all the instantly recognisable hits churned out in the 60’s and 70’s by Berry Gordy Jnr’s mammoth stable of stars. A guaranteed evening of favourites for all ages with superb close harmonies and individual solo numbers.

Unlike most other Motown groups, as well as the experience, these fellas still have youth on their side, providing slick and modern choreography, which many say is a cut above the rest.

With this group you have the whole package, the looks, the moves and most importantly the voices.

Don’t come expecting to sit down….the music just won’t let you!

Saturday 27th October

Absolute Bowie are proud to present a brand new stage show “50 Years of Bowie”; a musical journey through the iconic singer's ever changing personas.

Featuring the incredible vocals of John O’Neill as David Bowie, with Chris Buratti on guitar, Fabio Cashio on bass, Alex Paollilo on keyboards, Alessandro Ricardi on drums and Fiona Asbury on saxophone. The band have toured the UK and Europe for the past 9 years performing the hits of Bowie with their energetic (and theatrical!) stage show and look to take things to the highest level with this huge new show.
